The Protection and Control (P&C) Commissioning Group is responsible for the acceptance of commissioned P&C Equipment in Transmission and Distribution substations, as well as the processes and standards for testing and commissioning that equipment.

Specific Duties will be to: * Provide support for Communications, Protection and Control (CPC) field technologists. * Perform field reviews for P&C equipment installations and modifications. * Author and review P&C commissioning standards. * Accept and seal commissioning documentation. * Provide support to project teams where P&C and Telecom complexity exists as a P&C subject matter expert. * Communicate and manage project risks related to P&C. * Provide P&C specific input to an overall project schedule. * Identify and mitigate interdisciplinary interdependencies, safety and technical issues related to P&C systems for projects.


The successful candidate will have:

* A degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by Canadian universities. * Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in the Province of British Columbia with EGBC. * A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. * A strong conceptual background in and experience applying P&C system to transmission and distribution equipment. * Knowledge of P&C testing and commissioning best practices.

* Experience working in a field environment. * Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills. * The ability to travel.

The following attributes will be desirable:

* Experience working on large projects. * Leadership skills and experience. * P&C design or planning experience. * Experience in a utility environment. * An understanding of field safety practices.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION * Occasional travel throughout the province may be required. * A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain your Driver's License: Class 5 In Good Standing. * Applicants who do not meet the full qualifications or those with lesser work experience may be considered for a lower level position. * BC Hydro employees will be required to provide proof they are fully vaccinated effective November 22, 2021. * Please be advised that this role has been assessed as safety sensitive and pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing will be required as a pre-condition to employment.
