The Quality and Geomatics Division has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Team Lead to join the Quality side of the division, headquartered at the Edmonds office in Burnaby. This role is suited for someone who enjoys having tremendous variety in their work as they lead a team responsible for planning and managing supplier quality surveillance strategies for generation and transmission capital projects assets. The Team Lead is responsible for leading Quality's work with the distribution side of the business where they partner with Distribution Standards to assess supplier capabilities and define and execute surveillance strategies of engineered distribution materials.

The successful candidate will guide their team as they work collaboratively to set requirements for supplier evaluations and manufacturing surveillance, including test and inspection activities. This is an exciting technical leadership opportunity for someone who has the ability to build a strong team and excellent relationships with other BC Hydro departments and with suppliers. Experience in the design, manufacture, or test of electrical equipment is desired.


• An Engineering degree • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). • 10+ years of relevant industry experience • The following skills/abilities/competencies: • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills. • Demonstrated technical, problem solving, time management, conflict resolution, listening, and interpersonal skills. • Demonstrated ability to be adaptable and flexible. • Demonstrated initiative in identifying, pursuing and championing process improvements and

other business initiatives. • Demonstrated understanding of project management, design, and contract management processes. • Demonstrated record of using initiative and judgment to develop and implement solutions that address both business and technical needs. • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal development. • Excellent technical writing and communication skills in addition to demonstrated experience preparing and delivering oral presentations. • Computer skills competency: Proficiency with MS Office including MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint. The following are considered assets: • Experience supervising and managing others • A knowledge of quality assurance tools and methods • Experience developing and managing supplier surveillance strategies • Experience with quality processes and practices relating to equipment manufacturing (custom and/or high volume production) • Hydroelectric, substation, and/or transmission line structure and related equipment fabrication and test experience • Relevant utility experience • Site construction, commissioning, or quality management experience • Experience with public procurement processes • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g. SAP)
