Job Description
6-month contract Platform Engineer role with a global enterprise organization focused on a Gitlab migration project.
- 6-month contract Platform Engineer role.
- Global enterprise organization.
- Remote work available within Canada.
What & Why:
As a result of investment in technology our global enterprise organization is looking to add a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead a major CI/CD platform migration. They are moving their engineering teams from Azure DevOps to GitLab. This isn't a maintenance role or a build-from-scratch greenfield project; it's a complex, high-impact migration that requires you to assess everything that exists today, design the target-state architecture, and then actually shepherd multiple delivery teams through the transition with minimal disruption. You'll run discovery workshops, build reusable pipeline templates, handle exceptions where migrations hit technical walls, and work directly with vendors to close capability gaps. Just as important as the technical work is the people side, you'll need to communicate clearly, bring engineering teams along with you, and keep leadership informed on progress through metrics and reporting. It's a hands-on, high-ownership contract role for someone who has done this kind of platform migration before.
Who:
This client is one of the most recognizable Canadian brands, a true Vancouver success story who has expanded globally. They are well known for their corporate culture and has won major awards for their accomplishments. They have invested majorly in technology and have had an incredibly successful past few years, including a major strategic acquisition. They have an all-star leadership team who keeps you accountable and provides support while still affording you tremendous autonomy. This role can be remote anywhere in Canada.
You:
You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:
- 5–8 years of DevOps or Platform Engineering experience, with deep hands-on expertise across both Azure DevOps and GitLab CI/CD; including YAML pipeline authoring, reusable template design, and governance controls such as approvals, protected branches, and policy enforcement.
- Proven track record leading end-to-end CI/CD platform migrations, from current-state discovery and target-state architecture through phased execution, exception handling, and stakeholder change management.
- Strong cloud and container delivery foundations including Azure services, Kubernetes/containerization, GitOps concepts, and Infrastructure-as-Code tooling such as Terraform, plus scripting capability to build repeatable, automated platform workflows.
Compensation:
This role pays between $80-90 per hour.
