Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant position is responsible for ensuring the company's financial records and transactions are accurately recorded. This position is also responsible for preparing monthly financials by completing account reconciliations, submitting journal entries, and working with the accounting team to obtain relevant information to finalize monthly reports.

This is a permanent role, and hybrid working model of three days’ onsite.

Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and supporting month-end and year-end processes. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and enjoys working in a dynamic, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and working papers.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare internal financial statements and variance analysis
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external auditors.
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency.
• Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed.
• CPA preferred + 3 years of accounting experience, or comparable combination of education and experience .
• Proven leader of a monthly close processes at similar sized companies.
• Understand financial regulations, accounting standards and compliance requirements.
• Support of an annual audit and experience interacting with auditors to support open questions.
• Extremely organized, detail oriented and takes pride in quality.
• Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiples task in a time sensitive manner.
• Effective communication skills (written & verbal).
• Collaboration skills to gather relevant financial data from cross-functional departments.
• Flexibility to adapt to changes in business conditions and priorities.
• Experience in a consumer-facing industry required, knowledge of aviation industry is an asset.
• Strong ERP and Excel skills (NetSuite an asset).
• Experience with a system implementation an asset.
• Demonstrated experience streamlining accounting processes and improving operational effectiveness.

$75-90K commensurate with candidate’s experience, extended, medical, dental, life, and disability insurance, 3 weeks’ vacation, revenue sharing, discretionary bonus, RRSP matching program.

Vancouver, BC. Hybrid work model of in-office/remote, onsite days are Mon-Wed-Thurs.
