Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting (6 months contract)
We’re hiring! A rewarding contract opportunity is available with a well-established Canadian mining company headquartered in Vancouver. Join their Corporate Finance team as a Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting, and make an impact by ensuring timely and accurate financial reports.
Who- the Company:Our client is a publicly traded, global mining company recognized for its long-standing success, financial strength, and collaborative, high-performing culture. With international operations and a strong local presence, this is a chance to work alongside seasoned professionals and contribute to meaningful, complex work.
What- the Role:This 6-month contract is ideal for a CPA with public company experience. You’ll assist with monthly consolidations of financial data from the company’s subsidiaries across the Americas. The role offers excellent professional development with exposure to the full cycle of financial accounting and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Consolidations & Reporting
- Monthly consolidation of financial results and analysis from subsidiaries.
- Assist in preparing quarterly financial filings: consolidated statements, MD&A, and press releases.
- Prepare working papers and support notes for financial statements.
- Develop quarterly results presentations for the Audit Committee.
- Address financial statement inquiries from senior leadership and Audit Committee.
- Maintain financial reporting and consolidation software; support Finance team members.
Oversight & Compliance
- Provide financial oversight to select operating sites.
- Standardize reporting tools and templates across operations.
- Coordinate quarterly reviews and year-end audits with external auditors.
- Support internal controls and procedures for consolidation and reporting.
We’re looking for an experienced, professional, and detail-oriented CPA who can hit the ground running and add value immediately.
Required Qualifications:
- CPA designation with a minimum of 4 years’ progressive accounting experience with a publicly traded organization and/or public accounting firm.
- Knowledge of principles of consolidation and public company reporting requirements (IFRS).
- Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentation) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with different groups and levels within the organization.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Mining or natural resources industry experience.
- Experience with IBM Cognos Controller and/or SAP would be an asset, but not required.
- Spanish or Portuguese language skills (not required but a bonus).
Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience in the range of $40 - $48/hr + 4% vacation pay, depending on experience.
Where:This is a full-time, onsite role based at the client’s corporate head office in Vancouver, BC, easily accessible by public transit.
