What- the Role:
On behalf of our client, SWIM is seeking a new Assistant Controller for this company’s tightknit accounting & finance team. The Assistant Controller will report into the Controller, and work closely with an Accountant, the CFO, and others on the corporate accounting & finance team (local and overseas).
The Assistant Controller will take of financial reporting (under IFRS, including IFRS 18) and overall management of the day-to-day multi-entity accounting.
This role involves consolidation of multiple entities (multi-currency), accounting and analysis for stock-based compensation, tax filings, cash management (multiple bank accounts), transfer pricing, preparing packages and reports for the C-Suite and the Board, budgeting and forecasting, communication with external auditors and other consultants, implementing new internal controls, etc. Using an ERP and plenty of Excel. The Assistant Controller will contribute to special projects, process improvement initiatives, internal communication, and financial system optimization.

Who- the Candidate:
We are looking for an individual who has done senior-level full-cycle accounting in the mining sector (industry and/or from client portfolio in public practice). CPA designation (or International equivalent) is required. We are looking for a well-rounded accounting and financial reporting professional who is business-minded, with great relationship building abilities and excellent communication skills. Must have experience using a financial system or ERP, plus high level of proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, V look-ups, etc.) is required. Prior experience in the Canadian mining/natural resources sector is highly preferred- almost required, but we could perhaps consider candidates who have worked in similar project-based industries (forestry, oil & gas, etc.) who have always wanted to break into the mining industry.
How Much:
Competitive base salary commensurate with level of skills, experience, and education, likely in the range of $108,000 to $125,000. The company will provide their new Assistant Controller with a solid overall compensation package, including a generous discretionary bonus program, an RRSP match, paid vacation and sick days, CPA PD support, and health, dental, & vision benefits.
Where:
HYBRID. The company is headquartered in downtown Vancouver. Full-time in-office during the first few months of training & onboarding, after which the Assistant Controller can work from home up to 2 days a week (or work in office full time, if they prefer).
