Job Description

Horizon Recruitment Inc. is working with a well-established and forward-thinking public practice firm looking to add a Tax Manager to their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a CPA with strong tax planning and compliance experience who’s ready to take ownership of a client portfolio and lead a team of professional staff.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with firm leadership, manage client relationships, and mentor junior team members all while contributing to process improvements and technical growth within the practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of business clients, providing year-end financial statements, tax compliance, and tax planning services
  • Work directly with clients, partners, and operations to deliver exceptional service
  • Review work completed by staff and provide actionable feedback and coaching
  • Research and resolve complex tax matters, ensuring compliance with current legislation
  • Lead communication with CRA or other tax authorities, including handling corporate and sales tax audits
  • Assist in the development and improvement of internal systems and accounting processes
  • Support staff development through mentoring and ongoing technical guidance
  • Provide support for full-cycle accounting tasks as needed

Requirements:

  • CPA designation required
  • 5+ years of public practice experience, with a strong focus on tax
  • In-depth knowledge of tax planning and compliance for private companies, individuals, and trusts
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of relevant tax legislation
  • Proficiency in CaseWare, TaxPrep, and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly
  • Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset
  • Comfortable using and adapting to new technology
  • Proven ability to coach and lead junior team members
Rewards: 
  • $110-120K
