Job Title: Senior Manager, Review Engagements Location: Vancouver, BC (On‑site) Salary: $120,000 – $140,000 Job Type: Full‑Time
About the OpportunityA confidential mid‑sized CPA firm in Vancouver is seeking a Senior Manager with deep experience in review engagement files to lead and expand its review practice. This role is ideal for a seasoned public‑practice professional who is ready to take ownership of complex review files, elevate file quality, mentor junior staff, and work toward partnership.
You’ll oversee review engagements from planning through sign‑off, strengthen working‑paper quality, guide technical accounting decisions, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients across diverse industries. The firm offers a clear runway toward partnership for someone who brings leadership, technical excellence, and a commitment to high‑quality client service.
Mandarin or Cantonese fluency is required to support the firm’s client base.
What You’ll Be Doing- Lead and sign off review engagement files — planning, execution, documentation, and final partner‑level review.
- Elevate file quality — strengthen working papers, ensure ASPE compliance, and maintain consistent documentation standards.
- Provide technical accounting guidance — revenue recognition, impairment, leases, consolidations, and complex ASPE issues.
- Mentor and supervise staff — coach bookkeepers and staff accountants, review their work, and support professional development.
- Manage client relationships — deliver clear communication, advisory support, and timely issue resolution.
- Expand the review engagement practice — identify opportunities to grow the division and improve workflow efficiency.
- Contribute to firm leadership — participate in strategic planning, operational improvements, and long‑term practice development.
- Work toward partnership — demonstrate leadership, technical mastery, and client‑service excellence.
- CPA designation (required)
- 7+ years public practice experience with strong review engagement exposure
- Ability to sign off review files independently
- Strong technical knowledge of ASPE and review‑level assurance standards
- Experience supervising staff and managing client relationships
- Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese (required)
- CaseWare proficiency preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
- A clear partnership track within a growing CPA firm
