Title: Project Accountant (Part-Time Temporary with Potential for Permanent Full-Time)

Location:
Burnaby, BC (Onsite)

Rate: $40–$50 per hour

Contract length: Temporary Part-Time (3 days per week) | Approx. 3–6 months with strong potential to transition into a full-time permanent position

Overview

Our client, a well-established and growing construction organization based in Burnaby, is seeking a Project Accountant to join their collaborative finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment and is looking for a flexible part-time opportunity with the potential to transition into a full-time permanent role.

Reporting to the Controller, you'll play a key role in supporting project financial reporting, month-end activities, and maintaining the accuracy of project accounting information across multiple construction projects.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and maintain project financial reports, cost tracking and job reconciliations for multiple construction projects.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Monitor project budgets, commitments and cost allocations while identifying and investigating variances.
  • Work closely with project managers and operational teams to ensure accurate financial information and timely reporting.
  • Support continuous improvement of accounting processes, internal controls and financial reporting procedures.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, real estate development or project-based environments.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation or CPA enrolment is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting principles, month-end processes and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
