Title: Project Accountant (Part-Time Temporary with Potential for Permanent Full-Time)

Location: Burnaby, BC (Onsite)

Rate: $40–$50 per hour

Contract length: Temporary Part-Time (3 days per week) | Approx. 3–6 months with strong potential to transition into a full-time permanent position

Overview

Our client, a well-established and growing construction organization based in Burnaby, is seeking a Project Accountant to join their collaborative finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment and is looking for a flexible part-time opportunity with the potential to transition into a full-time permanent role.

Reporting to the Controller, you'll play a key role in supporting project financial reporting, month-end activities, and maintaining the accuracy of project accounting information across multiple construction projects.

What You'll Do

Prepare and maintain project financial reports, cost tracking and job reconciliations for multiple construction projects.
Assist with month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations and financial reporting.
Monitor project budgets, commitments and cost allocations while identifying and investigating variances.
Work closely with project managers and operational teams to ensure accurate financial information and timely reporting.
Support continuous improvement of accounting processes, internal controls and financial reporting procedures.

Qualifications

3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, real estate development or project-based environments.
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
CPA designation or CPA enrolment is considered an asset but is not required.
Strong understanding of project accounting principles, month-end processes and financial reporting.
Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
