About

The Squamish Nation, known as Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw in our language, traces its roots back to multiple physical communities, or úxwumixw, before becoming a government entity in 1923. Most of our community resides on the North Shore of Vancouver, with a smaller population living in Squamish along the Squamish River.

Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Members and community members can access a variety of programs and services offered by the Nation's administration, including education, language, recreation, emergency supports, and more.

Nexwsxwníw̓ntm ta Úxwumixw (Council) is the decision-making body that sets the overall direction and policy agenda of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw, both internally and externally. Their guidance ensures the Nation is provided with an effective administration, strong financial and resource stewardship, robust risk management, and effective service delivery.
