Project Accountant

Overview

Our client, a well-established construction company based in Burnaby, is seeking a motivated Project Accountant to join their growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to develop their career within a collaborative and supportive environment, with exposure to project accounting, financial analysis and business partnering.

Reporting to the Controller, you'll initially support day-to-day accounting activities before progressing into project accounting, budgeting and financial reporting responsibilities as you become established within the team.

What You'll Do

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable while ensuring accuracy and timely completion of daily accounting activities.
Support project accounting, including project cost tracking, reconciliations, budgeting and financial reporting.
Assist with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
Work closely with operational teams to provide financial insights that help drive project performance and support business decision-making.
Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing finance team.

Qualifications

2+ years of accounting experience, ideally within construction, project-based or related industries.
Strong communication skills with the confidence to build relationships across finance and operations.
Self-motivated, adaptable and able to work independently with minimal supervision while following established processes.
Experience using Acumatica ERP is highly desirable.
CPA designation (or progress toward one), cross-border (Canada/U.S.) accounting experience or PCP certification are considered assets but are not required.
