As a Geotechnical Engineer in Training, you'll gain hands-on experience on meaningful projects while building the foundation for your professional engineering journey.
Your Impact
- Support geotechnical investigations, including field drilling, sampling, test pit programs, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater data to support foundation design, slope stability assessments, and geohazard evaluations.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, memos, and data summaries that support client decisions and project development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver solutions for transportation, municipal, buildings, and energy-related projects.
- Contribute to construction monitoring, geotechnical inspections, and quality assurance activities to ensure safe and compliant project delivery.
- Apply innovative thinking to support sustainable design approaches and minimize environmental impacts.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- You're building your expertise in geotechnical engineering through hands-on academic, co-op, or early-career project experience.
- You're comfortable working outdoors, traveling to field sites, and contributing to field programs in varying conditions.
- You bring familiarity with tools such as GeoStudio, gINT, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or similar platforms - and you're eager to grow those skills.
- You meet all safety requirements and are committed to safe work practices on every site.
- You're pursuing or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with your provincial engineering regulator.
- You care about doing work that matters to communities, clients, and the environment.

Compensation
- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $66,700 - $88,400
- MB & ON: $60,900 - $83,800
- NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $60,300 - $80,000
