Finance Director - Praxis Spinal Cord Institute

Praxis Spinal Cord Institute (Praxis) is a Canadian-based not-for-profit organization working in the life sciences sector. Praxis plays a vital role in the development of new technologies and treatments for those living with spinal cord injury (SCI).

Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, Praxis facilitates an international network of people with SCI and other world-class experts to work together to identify, prioritize and solve the most urgent challenges.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Director will be a member of the senior management team, providing financial counsel and advice related to ongoing strategic initiatives and instilling financial rigor across the organization. The Finance Director is responsible for the strategic direction and management of the finance function overseeing the day-to-day financial activities and resources to ensure compliance with governing laws, regulations, and accounting standards. The Finance Director builds productive relationships across units and serves as the financial representative to the Board of Directors, Audit and Finance Committee, partner organizations, auditors, investment managers, government representatives, and other diverse partners.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate finance leader who has a deep desire to advance ground-breaking ideas to make individuals' lives better. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and CPA designation with at least six years of progressive experience in a financial leadership position. Experience working in the not-for-profit sector and/or social enterprise is preferred. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated leadership experience and sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse environment with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people. An equivalent combination of education, experience and skills will be considered.

This position is remote and requires occasional in-office meetings. The salary range for the position is $ 105,709 to $ 152,094 annually and is supplemented by a competitive total compensation plan.
