Job Description

6 month contract Data Engineer contract role with a growing team.
  • 6-month Data Engineer contract.
  • Large scale investment in data programs at this organization.
  • Primarily on site work environment with 4 days a week in office in downtown Vancouver.
What & Why:
As a result of growth our client is looking to add an intermediate-level Data Engineer role within their Enterprise Data Quality Engineering team.  This team is focused on building and maintaining the data infrastructure that underpins data quality maturity across the organization. The role combines hands-on pipeline development with a data quality mandate, requiring the candidate to both engineer robust data solutions and enable other teams to adopt quality standards and best practices. The core work involves designing and implementing data pipelines and quality solutions on Snowflake and Databricks, building reusable automation frameworks, debugging complex data issues across distributed systems, and collaborating cross-functionally on requirements and scope. They have invested majorly in technology and have had an incredibly successful past few years, including a major strategic acquisition. They have an all-star leadership team who keeps you accountable and provides support while still affording you tremendous autonomy. They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have a primarily onsite arrangement, 4 days a week in office.

You:
You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:
  • 4 to 7 years of Data Engineering experience with strong SQL skills and proficiency in at least one programming language including Python, Java, or Scala, alongside hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and PySpark.
  • Experience designing and implementing ETL pipelines, data warehousing solutions, and data models, with a solid understanding of data management fundamentals and data architecture principles.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, AKS, and Docker, as well as data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow and DevOps tooling such as GitLab or Azure DevOps.
  • Demonstrated ability to design data quality solutions, build reusable automation frameworks, debug complex data issues using profiling tools and lineage tracking, and educate cross-functional teams on data quality standards and best practices.
Compensation:
This role pays between $65-74 per hour.
