Job Description

Horizon Recruitment Inc. is working with a well-established organization embarking on an ambitious growth journey through a bold acquisition strategy. As part of this initiative, a newly created subsidiary has been launched to diversify and expand operations into new markets. Backed by a strong executive team, this division is projected to grow from $100M to $300M in revenue over the next 5 years — and they’re looking for the right finance leader to help drive it forward.

This is more than just a Controller role — it’s a launchpad for someone ready to take the next big step in their career. As the most senior finance professional within this new business unit, you’ll report directly to key decision-makers and have a seat at the table from day one. You'll have the autonomy to build and shape the finance function from the ground up, while playing a key role in strategic planning and execution.

For the right individual, this role comes with a clear path to CFO as the division continues to scale rapidly. It’s an ideal opportunity for a forward-thinking CPA with approximately 10 years of experience, eager to own a mandate and grow into broader executive leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all financial reporting and month-end close processes for the new subsidiary
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning activities
  • Provide insight and guidance to executive leadership to support key business decisions
  • Act as the primary liaison for external auditors, tax advisors, and corporate finance
  • Build and mentor a high-performing finance team as the business grows
  • Support M&A activity and integration of acquired entities
  • Travel periodically to regional operations and acquisition targets

Requirements:

  • CPA designation (or equivalent) required
  • Approximately 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Proven ability to lead in a dynamic, growth-focused environment
  • Experience with multi-entity financial reporting and systems
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate numbers into strategy
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to roll up your sleeves
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Willingness to travel as needed (approximately 10–20%)

Why This Role?

  • C-Suite exposure — report directly to executive decision-makers and influence major strategic decisions
  • Path to CFO — clear upward mobility as the division scales from $100M to $300M
  • Build something new — help shape a newly formed business from the ground up
  • High impact — play a central role in a major corporate growth strategy backed by a stable parent company

Rewards:

  • $150,000 - $180,000 Base + 15 - 20% Bonus

**Only candidates eligible to work in Canada will be considered**
