Working from within the woods department of Pacific Inland Resources (Smithers), you will report to the Woods Manager.

You'll Do:
  • Coordinate, develop and maintain progressive and positive working relationships with Indigenous and other communities
  • Assist in maintaining existing and developing new business relationships with Indigenous and other communities
  • Coordinate and participate in various community engagement activities and events
  • Facilitate and support the negotiation and implementation of agreements that contribute to effective and durable relationships with communities and indigenous peoples
  • Engage in effective communication with indigenous communities concerning divisional forest management and stewardship activities
  • Lead the development of divisional consultation and community engagement strategies, including employment and training initiatives
  • Work effectively with woods staff to ensure that commitments made are implemented and fulfilled
  • Assist with scheduling and facilitating meetings between indigenous communities and divisional staff to consult on forest management plans
  • Communicate regularly with corporate and divisional management concerning community engagement activities
  • Ensure that all consultation and engagement activity is appropriately documented
  • Adhere to all West Fraser and divisional safety and environmental policies and procedures

You have:
  • Be highly motivated and team-oriented individual with strong strategic thinking and communication skills
  • Familiarity and good understanding of indigenous cultures and history within region
  • Have a good knowledge and understanding of forest management practices and government policies and guidelines related to indigenous consultation and engagement
  • Proven experience gained with managing indigenous relationships or post-secondary education, preferably in forestry, natural resource management or indigenous studies or related fields
  • Proficient use of computers and Microsoft software
  • Ability to undertake physically demanding fieldwork and comfortable with travel and occasional weekend or evening work

Compensation Package:
  • The salary range for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location. The yearly salary range is between $90,000 and $104,000.
