Assistant Controller

Coquitlam, BC | Hybrid
$110,000 – $120,000 Base + Bonus

My client, a well-established and growing multi-entity organization operating across Western Canada, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their finance leadership team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA with a strong foundation in public practice and industry who is looking to step into a broader leadership role with mentorship from an experienced Director of Finance and executive team.

The Role
Reporting to senior leadership, the Assistant Controller will support the full accounting function including financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. You will work closely with operations while helping to strengthen processes and improve reporting across the organization.

This role offers strong exposure to operational accounting, systems improvements, and team leadership, making it ideal for someone looking to grow into a Controller-level position over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support financial reporting and month-end / year-end close

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management

  • Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes

  • Partner with operations to support business decision-making

  • Contribute to ERP optimization and system improvements

  • Support and mentor junior accounting staff

Qualifications

  • CPA designation required

  • Experience in both public practice and industry

  • 3–7+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Strong financial reporting and operational accounting background

  • Experience with ERP systems (MS Dynamics or similar preferred)

  • Job costing experience considered an asset

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, growing environment
