About Highland Valley Copper

Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operationsis Canada's largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences.

Reporting to the Superintendent, Operational HR, the Human Resources Advisor is responsible for providing a broad range of human resource services to all departments on site. This position is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in front line employee/labour relations, workplace investigations, and various HR generalist activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Support and assist operational departments as an integral part of the HR Team in the rollout and administration of all HR programs
  • Interpret and apply the provisions of the collective agreement (CBA), and guide Frontline Supervisors in the consistent and compliant application
  • Investigate employee relations issues including employee matters and performance concerns while maintaining confidentiality, consistency and sensitivity
  • Coach, counsel, and guide managers before the execution of employee disciplinary actions
  • Coordinate recruitment and apprenticeship training programs as required by the site
  • Assist in the administration of human resources policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment law
  • Perform other responsibilities as they arise

Qualifications

  • University Degree in in Human Resources Management, or related field.
  • Minimum five years related human resources experience
  • Previous experience as direct front-line labour relations would be considered an asset
  • Experience in or working knowledge of applicable employment and benefit laws and legislation
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of employment rules and regulations, along with HR best practices.
  • Solid working knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
  • A professional human resources certification (i.e., CPHR), or working towards one, is an asset.

Pay Range: $95,000 - $117,000

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Working Conditions:
  • Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
  • Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
