About the Opportunity

Aurora Electric Inc. is looking for a full-time Project Manager based in Nanaimo, British Columbia, working on site across Vancouver Island projects.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, this position is accountable for the planning, coordination, and delivery of electrical construction projects, with ownership of schedules, budgets, site coordination, client communication, and change management from start through close-out.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for managing multi-unit residential and commercial electrical projects, coordinating site teams and office partners, maintaining schedule and cost control, and serving as the main point of contact for clients and general contractors.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing electrical projects from handover through completion, including start-up planning and close-out
  • Coordinating field crews, forepersons, subcontractors, and office staff to keep work moving as planned
  • Monitoring budgets, labour projections, and work-in-progress in collaboration with the Branch Manager and Controller
  • Preparing and pricing change orders, tracking scope changes, and maintaining clear cost documentation
  • Communicating directly with clients, consultants, and general contractors throughout the project lifecycle
  • Reviewing drawings, shop drawings, and as-built documentation prior to and during construction
  • Overseeing material coordination, site readiness, and manpower planning
  • Supporting site safety practices and compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code

About You

To qualify, you will need a Red Seal Electrician certification, along with 5+ years of hands-on experience coordinating site teams and supporting electrical construction projects from start through completion.

The following are required:

  • A valid driver’s licence
  • Ability and willingness to travel across Vancouver Island as project needs require
  • Comfort working on active construction sites, including working at heights when necessary

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience managing multi-unit residential and commercial electrical projects
  • Familiarity with Accubid, Bluebeam, or comparable estimating and takeoff software
  • Background preparing and pricing change orders during active construction
  • Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Exposure to budget tracking, labour forecasting, and work-in-progress reporting
  • Experience coordinating field crews, forepersons, consultants, and vendors
  • FSR-A or FSR-B certification, or interest in working toward certification
  • Diploma or training in project or construction management
