Day One Society (Phoenix Centre) provides substance use services and advocacy for individuals, families and communities. We have a 25-bed inpatient detox unit, outpatient youth counselling, youth day treatment and supportive recovery programs.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Detox Program Supervisor, housekeeper maintains the 922 Third Avenue building and the 782 Seymour Street building at an acceptable level of cleanliness. This position requires flexibility and responsiveness in a stressful environment, often dealing with participants in crisis situations. The housekeeper needs to be capable of functioning as a team member, as well as independently.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Cleans all areas of the 922 Third Avenue building including but not limited to:
• Stocking and cleaning of client washrooms
• Cleans 10 adult patient rooms and 5 youth patient rooms, client bathrooms and client lounges
• Lower floor offices and common spaces
• Other offices in the Detox Unit
• Maintains cleaning equipment
• Reports any problems in the facilities, which require repairs and/or maintenance
• Cleans 782 Seymour Street building in accordance with the standards established
• Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications:
Education
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Certificate relevant to institutional cleaning from a recognized educational institute preferred.

• 2 years’ experience in institutional housekeeping is preferred
• At least 2 years’ experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
• Working knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is required
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
• Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint an asset
