The Developmental Disabilities Association is looking for passionate Community Support Workers (CSWs) who are ready to inspire and empower others. CSWs play an essential role in helping participants build vital life skills—social, emotional, physical, vocational, recreational, and daily living—while supporting them to thrive through meaningful onsite and community-based opportunities.

Job Title: Community Support Worker | #2167
Location: Vancouver / Richmond
Start Date: As soon as possible
Term/Status: Casual / On-Call
Hourly Wage: $25.95 – $29.76 + 10.6% in lieu of benefits

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging program environment
  • Work alongside team members to support participants with activities of daily living
  • Participate in the implementation and monitoring of individualized goal plans
  • Lead engaging, person-centered programs tailored to diverse abilities
  • Provide services through on-site, community and outreach-based activities

Requirements/Education/Experience:

  • Degree or Diploma in an area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities, such as Social Sciences, Human Services, Therapeutic Recreation, or Education
  • 1 – 2 years of work experience with persons with disabilities
  • Must be able to safely support swim/water activities in community pools – includes entry into chlorinated water
  • Minimum availability of 2 shifts per week
  • Criminal Record Clearance
  • Medical Clearance
  • Valid First Aid/CPR
  • Class 5 Driver’s License and use of a vehicle for work, OR a Class 4 Unrestricted Driver’s License
  • Driver’s Abstract showing a good driving record
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification
  • Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Requires physical strength, good balance, mobility, and endurance for recreational activities
  • Position involves assisting clients with personal care needs

Training is provided for: Client personal care & Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification

This position requires union membership.
