About the Opportunity

Chu Cho Environmental is looking for a full-time Hydrologist based in Prince George, BC, with flexibility to work from home when not required in the office or field, depending on project needs.

Reporting to the Senior Environmental Scientist, you will play a key role in supporting hydrology and surface water monitoring programs through fieldwork, data analysis, technical reporting, and collaboration across northern British Columbia.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for designing and implementing surface water quality and quantity monitoring programs, analyzing and interpreting data, and producing high-quality technical reporting. You will also play a central coordination role on a major Environmental Assessment (EA), offering a high-visibility opportunity to build deep EA experience through collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Playing a central coordination role on an active Environmental Assessment for a mining project, ensuring water-related data, analysis, and methodologies are fully integrated across the assessment
  • Working directly with senior hydrologists and external technical leads, contributing to technical strategy discussions and real-time problem solving
  • Designing and implementing hydrology and surface water quality and quantity monitoring programs
  • Analyzing hydrologic data and preparing high-quality technical reports for regulatory and EA submissions
  • Supporting technical consistency, regulatory requirements, and interdisciplinary integration on complex projects
  • Collaborating with ecologists, engineers, Indigenous partners, and external contractors on multidisciplinary initiatives
  • Supporting and mentoring staff in field data collection, data analysis, and technical writing
  • Working in remote and rugged field environments while adhering to health and safety requirements

About You

To qualify, you will need an undergraduate degree in hydrology, physical geography, earth sciences, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in environmental consulting or a similar hydrologist role. You will be licensed or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Agrologist (PAg), Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio), or Professional Geoscientist (PGeo)A combination of education, practical experience, and field-based expertise will be considered.

The following are required:

  • A valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to remote monitoring sites, including multi-day trips during peak field seasons
  • Comfort working outdoors in all seasons and variable weather conditions

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience designing and implementing surface water quality and quantity monitoring programs
  • Strong data analysis, interpretation, and technical report writing skills
  • Knowledge of water quantity and quality sampling, modelling, and water resource management
  • Familiarity with BC and federal environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience supporting or contributing to Environmental Assessments
  • Ability to coordinate project scopes and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations, or governments
  • Relevant field certifications such as Occupational First Aid Level 1, ATV, or UTV training
  • Master’s degree in hydrology or an equivalent discipline (asset)
