About the Opportunity

J.E. Anderson & Associates is looking for a full-time Senior Civil Engineer based in Campbell River, BC.

Reporting to the management and partnership team, you will play a pivotal role in co-leading the Campbell River office while providing expert guidance on sewage and water system design across projects on Vancouver Island.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing civil engineering projects from concept to completion, with a focus on community water and sewage systems, while supporting the growth and success of junior staff and contributing to the leadership of a small, high-performing team.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Co-leading day-to-day operations of the Campbell River office alongside a professional surveyor
  • Designing sewage and water systems, including community-scale and advanced treatment systems
  • Managing land development projects including rural subdivisions, site servicing, and frontage improvements
  • Leading project proposals, cost estimates, reports, and scheduling
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers, EITs, and technical staff
  • Collaborating with teams in Nanaimo, Parksville, and Victoria on multidisciplinary projects
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure quality project delivery
  • Contributing to client relationship development and business growth initiatives

About You

To qualify, you will need to be a Professional Civil Engineer in good standing with, or eligible for registration withEngineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil EngineeringA minimum of 5 years of experience designing sewage and water systems will also be essential, along with some team leadership and/or project management experience.

The following are required:

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to travel occasionally between office locations on Vancouver Island

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience designing community-scale sewage, water, and advanced treatment systems
  • Familiarity with land development and infrastructure projects including subdivisions, site servicing, and frontage works
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D and other engineering design tools
  • Strong knowledge of BC land development standards and regulatory processes
  • Confidence preparing proposals, budgets, schedules, and technical reports
  • Ability to guide and support junior engineers or technical staff
  • Experience working with clients, contractors, and approving authorities
  • Solid time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
