Computer Install Technician
Location: Nanaimo, BC

Position Overview
The Computer Install Technician (internally known as Deployment Technician) is responsible for deploying and retiring IT hardware in our branch or client environments. This may involve physical installation, transfer of settings or data, installation and configuration of software, or training and support for PCs, Laptops, Printers and Peripherals. This position is based out of Nanaimo, BC and may require travel to other areas of Vancouver Island. It will also require presence on client sites such as healthcare, government, and post-secondary institutions.
Responsibilities:

PC Hardware deployment and removal
-
Cable Management to client guidelines.
-
Upgrade PC hardware and equipment
-
Diagnose, repair, and upgrade PC software and equipment
-
Image workstation for new deployments
-
Respond to customer inquiries
-
Record-keeping and asset management
-
Support other departments as necessary, depending on workload such as
-
Printer/peripheral installation
-
Performing audio and video related tasks as necessary
-
Software and network configuration, troubleshooting and installation
-
Work proactively to ensure that services delivery is aligned to the client needs

Providing computer and/or printer orientation
-
Working with 3rd party couriers to handle shipments from and to our warehouse

Provide timely deliveries and customer service to our clients
-
Skid deliveries and hand bombing
-
Updating delivery tickets status in our systems
-
Assist with computer equipment moves and cascades
-
Retrieve old surplus systems and return to warehouse for wiping
-
Verify that all deliveries are correct prior to accepting any shipments
-
Organize and load product for delivery on assigned route
-
Obtain product receipt paperwork as applicable
-
Accept returns from customer and return to warehouse

Place product in return area with appropriate documentation

Maintain cleanliness of vehicle
Skills & Qualifications:
-
Minimum: High School Diploma / GED (experience with computers, electronics, mechanics, etc. is desired)
-
Ability to establish and maintain positive customer service
-
Preferred: College Diploma / Associate Degree (technical field) or equivalent certification
-
1 year experience in an enterprise/business IT environment
-
Knowledge of desktop hardware, preferably from an enterprise or business environment
-
Knowledge of software installation and troubleshooting in a Windows environment
-
Experience in PC assembly or repair
-
CompTIA A+ Certification (or similar) is considered an asset
-
Vendor-specific hardware certification is desired
-
Presentation and training skills is an asset
Position Requirements:
-
Basic technical skills to assist deployment technicians onsite
-
Must be able to lift 60+ lbs.
-
Must have a valid driver's license
-
Must be able to drive a 5 Tonne Cube, 1 Tone Cube & Cargo Vans
-
Must be able to pass a criminal record check (CPIC)
-
Must have vehicle to travel in between clients

Compensation: In accordance with the BC Pay Transparency Act the range for this role for BC residents is $21 to $23/hour. Please note the exact salary is determined based on a combination of your relevant experience, skill, competencies, geographical location and internal pay equity.
