 Salary:                 $25.95/hr to $29.76/hr                               Union Grid Level: 10

Benefits:           This is a unionized position with salary and benefits subject to the requirements of the BC Government Employees Union’s Collective Agreement.

 THE JOB:  The Bookkeeper supports the financial functions of the North Coast Community Services Society by providing a variety of bookkeeping activities in an office setting.   The Bookkeeper performs bookkeeping duties such as coding, recording, posting and processing day-to-day transactions. Processes accounts receivable, accounts payable and provides payroll support; and maintains and updates accounting records.

 THE CANDIDATE:  NCCS is looking for an individual who holds the fundamental belief that each individual matters and embraces the need to demonstrate compassion while consistently maintaining professional boundaries with employees, clients, community partners, and other stakeholders.  As a

member of an energetic team whose mandate is to provide quality assessment and intervention services using culturally inclusive and trauma informed practices, the successful candidate will offer administrative support to all NCCS teams.

 NCCS requires a motivated individual with the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 plus completion of, at minimum, a one year bookkeeping or business administration program
  • Two years recent related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience deemed acceptable to the employer may be considered

 Core Competencies include:

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills.
  • Be detail-oriented, organized, efficient and accurate.
  • Posses good judgement and follow internal procedures.
  • Sound computer skills, must be proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • High level of accountability and adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Has strong interpersonal skills to communicate with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

 Other Requirements:

  • Clear Criminal Record Review
  • Physical ability to meet job requirements
  • Current emergency first aid would be an asset
  • Basic bookkeeping skills would be an asset
