The Ministry of Children and Family Development works together with partners including contracted community social service agencies, Indigenous service providers, cross government and social sector partners to deliver inclusive, trauma informed, culturally respectful, responsive and accessible services that support the well-being of children, youth and families.

The Director of Operational Policy within the Early Years and Inclusion Policy branch is responsible for the development and implementation of operational policy and to support the overall direction of government and the Ministry in the delivery of services that help children, 0-19 years, and their families.

This position manages a portfolio of multi-faceted operations and projects relating to operational policy with long-term impacts for children 0-19 years and their families.

This position also leads cross divisional, cross ministry, and external stakeholder engagement in the development and implementation of operational policies related to the provision of services supporting young children, children and youth with supports needs and their families upholding long-term Ministry and government-wide priorities.

Job Requirements:
  • Degree in human services, social sciences, business administration or public administration, related field or equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in a combination of policy development, operational service delivery, community and stakeholder relations and engagement.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in a senior management role leading community/stakeholder engagement events and resolving conflicts.
  • Experience working with senior leaders across government and influencing operational change and implementation.
  • Experience leading initiatives of large scale and complexity that have multiple project delivery components.
  • Experience supervising and/or leading diverse project teams.

Preference may be given to applicants who have:
  • Experience in operational service delivery.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until May 6, 2025.
A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.

This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Child and Family Development offices: Campbell River, Cranbrook, Nanaimo, Nelson, Prince George, Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Surrey, Port Moody, Williams Lake, Burnaby or Duncan.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
