Our client is a dynamic, private equity-owned organization in the transportation sector. The business is undergoing significant change and investing in a more sophisticated, data-driven people function. The successful candidate will lead a team of HR professionals, partner closely with the executive team, and serve as a trusted advisor on culture, organizational design, risk, and workforce strategy.

The company operates out of their head office based in Downtown Vancouver.

Key responsibilities:

Executive leadership and strategy

  • Act as a key member of the executive leadership team and a direct advisor to the CEO.
  • Build strong relationships with private equity stakeholders and support people-related diligence, integration, and reporting as required.
  • Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational design to support scaling and productivity.

HR modernization and operating model

  • Lead the HR transformation roadmap, including policy modernization, process redesign, and workflow optimization.
  • Ensure HR programs are scalable, consistent, and easy to execute across locations and teams.
  • Strengthen governance, documentation, and decision quality across the people function.

Talent, performance, and leadership development

  • Set and refine talent acquisition strategy to attract and retain high-quality candidates in a competitive market.
  • Elevate onboarding and orientation so new hires ramp quickly and safely.
  • Build performance management practices that improve accountability, coaching, and results.
  • Design leadership development and manager toolkits that reduce risk and improve engagement.

Total rewards and analytics

  • Oversee compensation and benefits strategy, including market benchmarking and internal equity.
  • Use HR metrics and analytics to track hiring, turnover, compensation, benefits utilization, engagement, and productivity.
  • Provide clear insights and recommendations that support business decisions.

Employee relations, compliance, and risk

  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal policy, with strong, consistent application across the organization.
  • Provide executive guidance on policy interpretation, discipline, terminations, and conflict resolution.
  • Oversee workplace investigations with a fair, timely, well-documented approach.
  • Oversee WorkSafeBC claims, return-to-work processes, and workplace accommodations in partnership with operations and safety leaders.

Systems and data integrity

  • Own HRIS strategy and administration, including upgrades, vendor management, and data integrity.
  • Ensure personnel records, reporting, and compliance requirements are accurate and reliable.

Culture, engagement, and DEI

  • Strengthen culture and engagement through practical programs that improve inclusion, retention, and performance.
  • Lead DEI efforts with measurable goals and leader accountability.

Qualifications and credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • CPHR designation strongly preferred. Equivalent senior credentials are also valued.
  • 12 plus years of progressive HR experience, including 7 plus years leading teams and advising senior executives.
  • Proven success leading HR transformations in growth, restructuring, or PE-backed environments.
  • Strong knowledge of BC employment standards, investigations, and risk management. WorkSafeBC experience required.
  • Strong business judgment, executive presence, and ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of using data to drive decisions.
  • Transportation, hospitality, logistics, aviation, or similar operationally complex industry experience is an asset.
