The Ministry of Health is responsible for maintaining an accessible, high quality, affordable system for health service delivery that meets the needs of the citizens of the Province of BC.The Finance and Corporate Services Division supports the Ministry Executive and programs by managing and ensuring a consistent approach to financial and corporate issues. The services are provided through five branches: Financial Operations, Financial Analysis and Decision Support, Regional Grants and Decision Support, Audit and Investigations, and Supply Chain Management.

The successful applicant to the Team Lead, Financial Operations, Policy, and Reporting position is the senior accounting specialist responsible for providing expert financial advice to financial operations staff and in the development and implementation of accounting policy, financial management initiatives and financial policies and procedures. The policy and procedures are required to ensure the accuracy of the Ministry's financial statements, optimizing the preparation and results of the Ministry's scheduled and ad hoc financial reports. This position supervises a team of financial staff, delivering services across the Ministry.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Economics, Accounting, or a related field, along with a minimum of 2 years recent related experience*.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


*Recent related experience within the last 5 years must include each of the following:
  • Experience supervising or leading others in a professional environment.
  • Experience generating financial reports, providing solid analysis and making recommendations.
  • Experience in financial planning and analysis, and preparation of reports for executive staff.
  • Experience interpreting legislation and policy and providing advice to clients.


Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA) or working towards one.
  • Experience with Government financial system reporting.
  • 2 years or more supervising or leading others in a professional environment.
  • Who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit)

About this Position:

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 4 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
