The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure's Engineering group develops and implements province-wide engineering and environmental standards, develops policies and procedures to support the application of those standards, and provides engineering and technical services to a variety of ministry projects. In developing and delivering these services, staff work closely with a variety of stakeholders including other provincial and federal governments, non-profit groups, research organizations, First Nations and the general public. Our staff provide expert advice to the ministry and to allied organizations for the planning, design, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of British Columbia's highways and bridges.
Reporting to a Senior Authorizations Water Specialist and working in a variety of settings, the Authorizations Audit Coordinator provides technical advice regarding auditing and education decisions of Water Sustainability Act (WSA). This position will be responsible for auditing WSA authorization decisions on use approvals and/or notifications of applications for infrastructure and transportation project applications. The position is also responsible for creating and implementing auditing and education programs across projects, typically under their authority, but not always, during construction and post-construction phases. This includes applying enforcement of corrective measures for non-compliance with permits and Ministry policy and standards.
The position creates and prioritizes education driven initiatives and processes to address barriers and non-compliances, and to ensure consistency of environmental compliance throughout the province. Through their work, they will apply legislation, policies and professional standards to transform MOTI's authorizations processes.
Jobs are located throughout the province within regional operations.

Job Requirements:
  • An Undergraduate degree in an environmentally focused program (e.g., Biology, Environmental Studies/Management) plus 2 years of related experience; or
  • A Diploma in one of the above-mentioned disciplines and 5 years of related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience includes all of the following:
  • Experience conducting audits for compliance with environmental regulations and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Experience developing and delivering educational activities and materials to partners and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience working in environmental construction management.
  • Experience performing technical duties and working with permits and authorizations.
  • Experience in construction, negotiating and resolving conflicts with stakeholders in natural resource management.

PROVISOS
  • Willingness to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle in all weather conditions.
  • Valid BC driver's licence.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
