Job Summary

The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is accountable for integrated land and natural resource management, including objective setting for land and marine environments, effectively managing cumulative effects, and advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, environmental sustainability, and economic growth.

The Geospatial Technician creates digital, graphic, and descriptive products using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and supports statutory decision-makers by determining the legal land status of specific areas and completing full Legal Land Status Reports. This position maintains the accuracy and integrity of various provincial databases.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Diploma in geographic information systems or equivalent.
  • Experience capturing, converting, creating, editing and/or maintaining digital information in a GIS environment.
  • Experience creating a variety of digital, geographical and/or descriptive products.

PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • Experience with government applications including: Tantalis, GATOR, ILRR, Authorizations Tracking System (ATS), QuickWins, and eLicensing.
  • Experience with ArcPro and/or ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience with Python and/or Modelbuilder.
