Shipper / Receiver / Forklift Operator – Wood Products Production

Posted 18 hours ago

Job Description

Established wood products manufacturing operation is looking for a Shipper / Receiver / Forklift Operator with experience handling lumber products serving local and export markets. This is a high reliance position requiring previous experience and proven expertise in a full production mill environment, not just a retail lumber yard. This position requires excellent organizational, administrative, communication and decision making capabilities to ensure optimal material flow into and out of a high-volume production mill environment. The product being produced and shipped is specialty cedar lumber (plus other species) for high value markets located across North America and beyond.

If you have a solid background in shipping, receiving, materials packaging, forklift operation and in particular the proper handling and truck loading of lumber, siding or other related wood products we would like to speak to you about this high-quality employment opportunity.

This position also requires skill and confidence in the operation of standard high-capacity forklifts. Prior experience moving lumber, siding or wood related material around a production storage yard, is essential. At a minimum you will need to have a few years experience with loading and unloading of materials to and from storage onto multi-axle trucks and semi trailers. Experience with loading enclosed vans and containers is not essential but a bonus.

If you know how to handle, tag, track, store, package, document and load wood materials in a mill production environment and want to take your career to the next level as a Shipper / Receiver with increased organizational responsibilities this position would be ideal for you.

As a key member of a production team your communication skills have to be above average with strong command of the English language both written and verbal. You will also have to be comfortable using digital and radio technology to keep in touch with other team members, office staff, delivery drivers and other stakeholders as necessary.

This is a fast paced, dynamic environment. But it is also a rewarding one to work in - with good facilities, modern technology, clear direction, appropriate standards and an atmosphere of team membership. If you like to be productive and get along well with others this could be your dream job.

This is a full-time day shift position with a competitive compensation package including paid benefits.

If this job opportunity fits your qualifications and you are interested, please apply promptly with a current resume outlining your capabilities. Phone, online/video and in person interviews are ongoing until the position is filled – ideally in the next few weeks.

Please ensure that your contact information is up to date and complete so that we can contact you directly to schedule an interview. A current postal code will assist in processing your resume/application. Resumes, and all interviews, are held in confidence. Only qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview.

To be considered for this position you must be physically capable of performing the duties required of the position and legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application.
