Job Description
Successful and growing wood processing operation is looking for an experienced Planer Operator or Planer Technician to produce high quality softwood products efficiently, safely and reliably.
This is a key technical position in a well-organized operation that produces softwood lumber products using modern high-speed production machinery for both local and export markets.
Full qualifications for this position include:
- At least 2 years of experience running standard profiles on a high speed planer such as Stetson Ross, Yates, Woods, Coastal, Gilbert or similar. (If your experience is on a through-feed moulder such as Weinig or Wadkin please contact us for further discussion.)
- The above includes tooling preparation, machine setup and full operation with automated (or coworker) feeding assistance to maintain reliable and efficient production.
- Flat knife grinding skills are required and experience with profiles and splitter saws preferred.
- Some machine maintenance skills, for both planer and ideally other production machinery. Planer staff often help out in other areas of the plant to keep overall production running smoothly, so such skills are valued for this multi-functional position.
- A team player attitude along with good communications skills that supports your membership in a well-trained crew.
Hours of Work:
This is a permanent full-time hourly position in a multi-shift operation. Currently this is a day shift position. Some afternoon or weekend work may be required as production requirements change.
Compensation:
Pay levels are set according to an established wage hierarchy, adjusted annually. Hourly wage levels are very competitive and include benefits.
This is an ideal career position for proven performer looking for steady employment and a supportive work environment that values diversity, initiative and personal development.
Applications:
If this position suits your qualifications and interests please apply promptly with a current resume outlining your capabilities. Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview. Phone, online and live interviews are ongoing until this currently vacant position is filled.
Please ensure that your contact information is up to date and complete so that you can be reached readily to schedule an interview. Resumes, and all interviews, are held in confidence.
Out of Province Applications:
Applicants applying from outside the province of BC are encouraged and will be considered but applicants MUST be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application. Relocation Assistance may be available based on individual applicant circumstances.
