Position Overview  

We are looking for a Service Technician in the areas surrounding Nanaimo, BC.  The Service Technician is a professional who responds to same day onsite service calls for various clients. Duties include desk side and onsite troubleshooting of Hp Printers and Lenovo /Dell /Hp computers. 

This role will take care of the regular and routine repairs, including replacements.  Providing service and client support during field visits or dispatches. Managing all on-site installation, repairs, maintenance, and test tasks. Diagnosing errors or technical problems and determining proper solutions. 

The Service Technician should be well-versed with the functionality to explain the equipment operation better to the client.  The technician will have to directly interact with the clients before the onsite visit. This will help the professional to ensure that corrective measures are taken to rectify it. They should maintain positive relationships with the clients. 
 

Role and Responsibilities 

The Service Technician will be required to respond to onsite service calls for various clients. Duties include desk side and onsite troubleshooting of computer and printer problems, add/move/changes and installation of new systems.  

  • Maintains, deploys, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs hardware and related peripherals for Desktops and Laptops. 

  • Documents, maintains, upgrades, or replaces hardware and software systems.

  • Perform diagnostic repairs and preventative maintenance on computer systems for our clients in the local area.

  • Identify, analyze and document discrepancies and ensure that appropriate adjustments are made.

  • Review existing IT systems and internal processes

  • Implement IT systems

  • Identify areas for improvement within IT infrastructures

  • Maintain quality assurance for the improvement of existing systems 

  • Required to repair PC/Workstation and laptops 

  • Delivery of technical services to end users, specifically in desktops and laptops

  • Trains and consults end users on workstations, laptops, printer functions and other computer hardware and related peripherals as required 

  • Able to re-Image the workstation on client site.

  • Record-keeping and asset management

  • Configuring and reloading of Operating Systems (OS) 

  • Effective and timely use of call management and reporting tools

  • Travel to and from different client sites using your own vehicle to pick up/drop off client hardware and provide various on-site services as required 

  • Maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction through clear spoken and written communication 

  • Returning all used and unused parts in a timely manner and assist with updating the client records  

  

Qualifications and Educational Requirements 

  • 2 years’ experience in the service and repair of computers and/or printers  

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive customer Requirements 

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office suite 

  • Technical certifications considered an asset (i.e. A+ Certification) 

  • CompTIA A+ Certification (or similar) considered an asset 

  • Excellent customer service skills 

  • Knowledge of desktop hardware, preferably from an enterprise or business environment 

  • Knowledge of software installation and troubleshooting in a Windows environment 

  • Manufacturer certifications considered an asset 

  • Knowledge of manufacturers service advisory and parts lookup processes considered an asset 

 

Other Requirements 

  • Must have reliable vehicle and driver's license (we offer competitive mileage reimbursement) 

  • Travel outside the Nanaimo area as needed to provide client support. 

  • Must be able to lift up to 50+ lbs. 

  • Must be able to pass a criminal record check 

  • Must be a self-starter and be able to manage your day-to-day tasks

Compensation: In accordance with the BC Pay Transparency Act the range for this role for BC residents is $24.00 to $27.00 hourly. Please note that while the pay range of the role is listed here, this position’s salary is non-negotiable based on the geographical market. Your exact salary is determined based on a combination of your relevant experience, skill, competencies, and internal pay equity.
