About the Opportunity

Mantech Enterprises is looking for a full-time Travelling Field Service Technician based in North Vancouver, BC.

You will operate on a flexible 4x10 schedule, typically working four 10-hour days in the shop when not travelling, while supporting paper mills across Canada and the United States through field assignments that may involve extended hours, overtime, overnight travel, and occasional weekend work.

Reporting to the Service Manager and working alongside experienced Service Technicians, you will play a key role in servicing, troubleshooting, installing, and commissioning automated tail threading equipment at paper mills across North America while supporting shop operations between service trips.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for travelling to customer sites to complete field service work, diagnose equipment issues, support machine startups, and provide hands-on technical support, while contributing to in-house assembly, testing, and documentation activities at Mantech’s North Vancouver facility.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Travelling to paper mills across North America to perform equipment servicing, repairs, installations, and commissioning
  • Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical equipment issues
  • Supporting paper machine startups and fine-tuning automated tail threading systems
  • Training customer personnel on the operation and maintenance of installed equipment
  • Producing detailed service reports, manuals, system setting sheets, and related documentation
  • Assembling and testing equipment in-house between field assignments
  • Assisting with shop operations including machining, fabrication, assembly, and electrical work
  • Maintaining strong customer relationships while following all site safety procedures and protocols
About You

To qualify, you will ideally bring a trade certification and/or technical diploma, along with 5+ years of industrial or field service experience in a mechanical, electrical, or related technical environment involving heavy equipment, hands-on troubleshooting, and demanding industrial settings.

The following are required:

  • A valid Canadian passport with the ability to travel for work into the United States
  • Valid driver's licence with the ability to travel independently to airports, customer sites, and remote mill locations
  • Willingness and availability to travel frequently across North America
  • Ability to work extended hours during field assignments, including occasional weekends and changing schedules
  • Ability to work in physically demanding industrial environments
  • Ability to pass a 10-panel drug screening as required by customer sites and U.S. paper mills

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting and repair experience
  • Experience working with pneumatic and electrical systems
  • Ability to read technical drawings and system layouts
  • Industrial, manufacturing, millwright, heavy equipment, or field service experience
  • Basic understanding of PLC systems and controls
  • Experience assembling, testing, or commissioning equipment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train and support customers on-site
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment
