Own the data platform end-to-end. You will architect, build, and operate resilient pipelines and distributed database infrastructure at real scale, with full visibility into how your work drives operational decisions.
Work at the center of a complex, large-scale data space, partnering directly with operations teams to deliver the monitoring and insight capabilities that power a 24/7 production environment.
You will be part of a fast-paced, high-performing team at the cutting edge of AI cloud infrastructure technology.

What & Why:
A rapidly scaling AI cloud infrastructure company is looking to bring on a Senior Data Engineer to anchor their data platform function. The team supports large-scale, always-on operations and needs someone who can design and own the full data engineering stack — from pipeline orchestration to distributed database performance.

Please note: the right candidate is a data infrastructure expert with hands-on experience operating distributed database systems at scale. This is not a role focused on data analytics, machine learning, or BI pipeline development.

Our client is a technology company operating at the intersection of high-performance computing and sustainable infrastructure, with facilities across North America. They build and run their own data centers and take a vertically integrated approach to delivering AI cloud services at scale. The engineering culture is pragmatic, fast-moving, and deeply invested in the quality and reliability of the systems that underpin daily operations.

This hybrid role (3 days per week on-site) is based in downtown Vancouver. They have a start-up culture that values inclusiveness and a proactive approach to overcoming new challenges.

You:
You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

Must be able to work independently and navigate the challenges of a fast-paced start-up environment, focusing on finding solutions rather than just identifying problems.
8+ years of experience in data engineering, especially in large-scale, high-volume environments.
Build and operated distributed databases in either on-prem or hybrid environments. ClickHouse preferred but Cassandra, Druid, Pinot, and BigQuery are acceptable.
Extensive experience with Hadoop or Spark ecosystems.
Cluster scaling, replication, partitioning, and performance tuning at scale.
Strong command of Python and SQL.

Compensation:

Up to $155,000 + competitive incentive program.
