Senior Accountant

Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join a growing public company with international operations across North and South America. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting and working closely with the Director of Finance, this role plays a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting public company compliance requirements, and providing accounting support across multiple jurisdictions. This opportunity is well suited for a CPA coming from public practice who is looking to move into industry, or for an experienced industry professional with a strong background in financial reporting and IFRS.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial results.
• Develop and maintain financial statement working papers and supporting schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Prepare quarterly and annual Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) disclosures.
• Review financial information submitted by international subsidiaries and ensure consistency with reporting requirements.
• Support subsidiary finance teams by providing guidance on the accounting implications of transactions and business activities.
• Participate in quarterly review engagements and annual external audits.
• Prepare and distribute weekly cash reporting packages.
• Manage full-cycle accounting activities for the Canadian entity using SAP S/4HANA.
• Oversee accounts payable processes and support banking activities.
• Process vendor invoices and maintain accurate vendor master data.
• Record and administer stock option and restricted share unit (RSU) transactions.
• Complete required Statistics Canada financial reporting and survey submissions.
• Prepare and file quarterly GST returns.
• Contribute to special projects, process improvements, and other finance initiatives as required.

Requirements:

• Canadian CPA designation.
• Experience with public company financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and financial statement preparation.
• Experience preparing MD&A and external reporting documents.
• Background in public practice, preferably with a larger accounting firm.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Experience working with international entities or multi-jurisdictional operations is an asset.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA is considered an advantage.
• Spanish language skills are an asset, or willingness to learn Spanish.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Remuneration:

• Base Salary of 90,000 - 100,000
