Located at the Maple Ridge WorkBC office this is a full -time position which will include, on occasion, a shift for Wednesday and Thursday evenings to 6:30 pm.

The Role
Representing Douglas College at the Maple Ridge WorkBC Centre, the Resource Centre and Wage Subsidy Advisor will provide assistance to job seekers during peak hours in the resource center. They will also support the job development team with the successful completion of wage subsidy documentation and agreements between WorkBC, employers and clients.

Responsibilities

RESOURCE CENTRE :

    •Assist with greeting resource room visitors, ensure clients sign-in, answer inquiries and direct appropriately;
    •Support clients with using computers, and troubleshooting simple problems when required;
    •Provide personal responses to electronic and telephone inquiries about WorkBC Employment Services;
    •One-to-one coaching with resume writing, job search techniques, career planning materials, assessment tools and other resources;

WAGE SUBSIDY :

    •Assist with client registration for OES , wage subsidy applications and supports as well as answer inquiries
    •Review Wage Subsidy agreements for accuracy and completeness;
    •Assist employers with claims and documentation
    •Provide vacation coverage for team members on occasion
ADDITIONAL DUTIES :

    •Participate in weekly team meetings and community outreach.
    •Miscellaneous as required.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need

    •Post-Secondary degree or equivalent level of experience and knowledge in the sector;
    •Certified Career Development Practitioner ( CCDP ) designation an asset;
    •Knowledge of local labour market and labour market trends;
    •Experience providing customer service and resolving issues in person & in a virtual service delivery environment
    •Experience working with individuals with complex barriers and a broad range of cultural backgrounds;
    •Demonstrated ability to meet performance-based targets;
    •Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check.
