This posting is for one full-time position at the Maple Ridge WorkBC Employment Services Centre.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings.

The Role
Representing Douglas College at the WorkBC Employment Services Centre in Maple Ridge, the Lead Career Coach will deliver Intake and Case Management Services to help Clients achieve and maintain sustainable labour market attachments. This positions is also responsible for supporting other Maple Ridge WorkBC Career Coaches to maintain exemplary customer service while ensuring that they meet or exceed the Centre's key performance measures .



    •Support the Centre Manager to ensure the Centres are delivering a quality client experience;
    •Provide orientation and training to new employees on ICM and WorkBC Policy;
    •Lead weekly case conferencing with Career Coaches;
    •Guide and coach the team to ensure they are maintaining regular contact with Clients to provide support, motivation and to monitor their progress;
    •Oversight of Client Intake and Long-Term Interventions including:
    - Education and Skills Training;
    - Self-Employment;
    - Job Search Services;
    - Work Experience;
    - Wage Subsidies;
    •Working with a small caseload, review and implement the Client Needs Determination assessment for case management interventions or services and refer to all relevant WorkBC and Community Resources; and
    •Assist clients through one-to-one coaching with career planning, job search, labour market information, and other relevant resources.

The Lead Career Coach will;

    •Ensure that they and the team provide a warm and welcoming environment when greeting clients and visitors;
    •Ensure that regular/timely follow up is conducted with all self-serve Clients;
    •Assist clients through one to one coaching with resume writing, job search techniques, career planning materials, assessment tools, workshops and other resources; and
    •When assessed as appropriate, encourage the Client to complete or re-apply for Case Management Services using the Online Employment Services portal.

    •Participate in weekly team meetings, strategic planning sessions and performance management reviews; and
    •Miscellaneous as required.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need

    •Post-secondary degree (preferably in Social Services) or equivalent level of experience and knowledge in the field of employment services;
    •Certified Career Development Practitioner ( CCDP ) Certification an asset;
    •Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
    •Demonstrated ability to meet performance based targets;
    •Demonstrated ability to mentor staff in a supportive team environment;
    •Satisfactory completion of a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Persons check is required.


    •Providing customer service and resolving issues in person & virtual service delivery environment;
    •Working with individuals with complex barriers and a wide range of cultural backgrounds;
    •Experience using on-line reporting and communication portals/databases; preference given to individuals with knowledge of existing Provincial Gov't systems ( ICM , OES , etc.);
    •Commitment to continuous learning and development;
    •Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-based work environment with shifting priorities and duties;
    •Demonstrated ability to collaborate with coworkers and take a team based approach to assist Client's; and
    •Computer skills: MS Office Suite, database entry and the use of online-demand meeting applications and desk-top sharing.
