Position Summary
The Opportunity
Northern Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Family Practice Associates Clinic in Fort St. John. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide longitudinal primary care to patients of all ages in a well-established, team-based environment. The NP will attach a patient panel and contribute to a collaborative care model alongside family physicians and medical office assistants.
The clinic is co-located with another practice that includes four Nurse Practitioners, fostering a collegial and supportive atmosphere. The NP will use MOIS ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORD (EMR) specific to the clinic and will be eligible for financial incentives through the Provincial Attachment System.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide longitudinal primary care to a diverse patient population.
• Attach patients per the Provincial Attachment System (PAS) guidelines.
• Use Electronic Medical Record (MOIS) for documentation and care coordination.
• Collaborate with family physicians, Medical Office Assistants and other nurse practitioners in a collegial setting.
• Participate in team-based care and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

About the Clinic
The Family Practice Associates Clinic is a primary care facility located in Fort St. John. The clinic has a team of family physicians and MOAs and shares its location with another clinic where four Nurse Practitioners work. It utilizes the MOIS Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and operates with a collaborative, patient-centered model of care. The Nurse Practitioner position is incorporated within the clinic team.

Fort St. John Hospital is a modern healthcare facility serving northeastern British Columbia. Opened in 2012, the hospital provides a wide range of services including emergency care, inpatient medical and surgical units, maternity and newborn care, diagnostic imaging, and outpatient clinics. It is co-located with Peace Villa, a residential care facility, allowing for integrated services across the continuum of care.

The hospital is a regional referral center and plays a vital role in supporting both urban and rural communities in the Peace region. Known for its collaborative, team-based approach, Fort St. John Hospital fosters innovation, professional development, and culturally safe care practices. It is a key training site for medical learners and healthcare professionals across Northern Health.

Salary Range
New Graduate NP - $145,739
1 Year Experience - $153,026
2 Years Experience - $160,313

Qualfications
Education and Experience
-Completion of BCCNM approved Master's degree level nurse practitioner program.
-Eligible for registration as a Nurse Practitioner with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients/clients/residents and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care and prognosis.
-Ability to collaborate, consult with and formally refer patients/clients/residents to physicians and other health professionals when appropriate.
-Ability to critically assess and evaluate health research literature to determine best practices; ability to introduce education and evidence-based research.
-Ability to assess and recognize population health trends; ability to plan and implement strategies for population-based prevention and health promotion.
-Ability to implement and evaluate planned change.
-Ability to supervise others and evaluate the care they deliver.
-Ability to lead a team and work within a team.
-Ability to self-direct, interact, and adapt effectively with other professionals in complex, dynamic situations.
-Ability to transfer knowledge, teach, coach and mentor others.
-Ability to identify and respond appropriately to legal and ethical issues that may arise in patient/resident/client care.
-Ability to self-assess performance and assume responsibility and accountability for own professional development, educational or consultative assistance when appropriate.
