Position Information
Location New Westminster/Coquitlam Campus Salary Range
Band 11 (Minimum- $92,139, Control Point- $122,852, Maximum- $135,137).Placement within a salary band is typically up to Control Point based on skills, experience and internal equity. May place over Control Point in limited circumstances.
The Opportunity
Douglas College is seeking a reliable and efficient Manager, Maintenance and Operations to provide leadership to the College in planning, coordination, and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance, repairs and minor capital infrastructure renovation projects involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. As the successful candidate, you will have a strong balance of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking, ensuring facilities operations align with institutional priorities and industry best practices.

WHAT IT TAKES
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Need
• A Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience which may include an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) certification or a recognized Red Seal/journeyperson certification in a relevant trade (e.g., electrical, mechanical, or HVAC ). A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
• Project Management Professional ( PMP ) certification or equivalent project management training is considered an asset.
• Five to seven years of directly related work experience in a large, complex multi-location environment (preferably in a unionized, public-sector environment).
• Extensive knowledge of building systems and equipment, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC , and building automation systems.
• Proven experience developing specifications and implementing building equipment and systems improvement projects.
• Strong understanding of energy efficiency programs and sustainable maintenance practices.
• Demonstrates strong initiative and sound judgment and can lead projects and manage priorities independently.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze technical issues and recommend effective, practical solutions.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, and PowerPoint with advanced knowledge in Excel. Experience with maintenance management or project management software is an asset.
• Demonstrated abilities that align with the Douglas College Core Competency Framework.
Additional Information
• Regular hours of work are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
• Travel between Douglas College's locations as required.
• On-call 24 hours a day in case of emergency from unexpected equipment or building systems malfunction.
