Job Summary

The Responsible Mining and Competitiveness Division (RMCD) manages and facilitates the responsible development of BC's mineral resources. RMCD's main focuses are: ensuring safe and environmentally responsible mineral exploration, mine development and closure; providing timely permitting decisions; promoting BC's many mineral opportunities and fostering a positive and supportive environment for staff; implementing the Premier's Jobs Plan commitments and contributing to the achievement of the Province's social, economic and environmental goals.

The Senior Inspector of Mines-Permitting positions are found in each of the five regional offices in Victoria, Prince George, Kamloops, Cranbrook and Smithers.

Job Requirements:
  • Registered or immediately eligible (within six months) for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (e.g. Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to obtain registration in BC from a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction.
  • Relevant degree in mining, or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association.
  • Experience at a senior or manager level.
  • Experience with a broad range of mining activities including exploration, site development, construction, mining methods, processing methods and support operations.

Preference:
  • Experience with First Nations consultation processes.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
