This position provides professional advisory services to a program area in the natural resource sector. The primary role of the Stewardship Forester includes: Resource Monitoring, Silviculture, Strategic Operational Planning, Timber Supply Reviews, Land Based Investment Delivery and Forest Health.

Job Requirements:
• Degree in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by the Association of BC Forest Professionals, AND a minimum of two (2) years' related experience (gained over the last 10 years); OR,
• An equivalent combination of education and experience in a resource management related field may be considered.
• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Professional Forester with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction. Applicants must confirm their eligibility with the ABCFP. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made.
o Applicants who do not meet the professional requirement may be considered at a lower classification level, subject to registration as Forester in Training (FIT) or Allied Forester in Training (ASFIT) at the time of application.
• Experience organizing and managing complex initiatives.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
• Experience in Silviculture contract administration, Forest Health Monitoring, or Stewardship Activities(e.g. Forest Health, Forest and Range Evaluation Program (FREP), Silviculture, Fuel/Fire Management, Ecosystem Restoration, Timber Supply Reviews and Land Based Investment Strategy).
• Experience operating snowmobiles, ATV's and a variety of equipment.

Provisos
• Valid B.C. driver's licence.
• Meet safety standards of Work Safe BC.
• May be required to operate a variety of equipment.
• Able to withstand the rigors of field work.
• Conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established for future permanent vacancies.
