The Opportunity
Build the Future with Us - Join our Environmental Management team as a Junior Air Quality Specialist (Scientist or Engineer) in our Vancouver, BC office. In this role, you'll support multidisciplinary teams working on projects that improve air quality, assess industrial and community impacts, and shape healthier environments across Canada.
Your Impact
- Contribute to air quality assessments and dispersion modelling (e.g., CALPUFF, AERMOD) for industrial, commercial, and regional airshed projects.
- Support analysis of emissions, baseline conditions, and predicted impacts to inform mitigation and monitoring strategies.
- Conduct fieldwork (approximately 30% annually, up to 50% seasonally), including site visits, equipment deployment, and data collection.
- Operate, calibrate, maintain, and audit air pollution and meteorological monitoring instruments.
- Assist in air quality data analysis, interpretation, and preparation of emissions inventories.
- Prepare sections of technical reports and regulatory submissions for environmental assessments and approvals.
- Uphold WSP's safety culture and Life Saving Rules in all field and office environments.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- A degree or diploma in atmospheric sciences, environmental science, chemical/mechanical/environmental engineering, or a related discipline.
- 1 year of experience in environmental consulting or air quality-related work (internships and co-ops count).
- Familiarity with emissions inventories, dispersion modelling, regulatory frameworks, or impact assessments.
- Aptitude with instrumentation, electronics, and use of standard hand tools.
- Proficiency or interest in GIS, Linux, R, Python, Fortran, MySQL, PHP or similar tools.
- Strong initiative, attention to detail, and a "can-do" attitude in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- A valid Class 5 driver's licence with no restrictions.

Compensation
- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $66,700 - $88,400
- MB & ON: $60,900 - $83,800
- NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $60,300 - $80,000
