Our Resources subsector, a key division within WSP's Energy, Resources and Industry (ERI) sector, supports clients across Canada with comprehensive engineering and project delivery expertise. Over decades, our team has expanded its capabilities to include economic studies, project management, detailed engineering, procurement, site management, commissioning, industrial programming, closure and reclamation of mine sites, and more.
To support our continued growth, we are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Terrace, British Columbia. In this role, you will help lead the design and optimization of electrical power distribution and control systems for both greenfield and brownfield mining and heavy industrial projects.

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $85,100 - $112,800
MB & ON: $77,700 - $107,000
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $76,900 - $102,100

Over decades, our team has expanded its capabilities to include economic studies, project management, detailed engineering, procurement, site management, commissioning, industrial programming, closure and reclamation of mine sites, and more.
To support our continued growth, we are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Terrace, British Columbia. In this role, you will help lead the design and optimization of electrical power distribution and control systems for both greenfield and brownfield mining and heavy industrial projects.
Your Impact
- Apply electrical engineering expertise from conceptual design and studies through to project completion.
- Lead design efforts for electrical power distribution and control systems in industrial environments, including hazardous locations.
- Prepare and review specifications and datasheets for switchgear, MCCs, transformers and electrical equipment.
- Conduct power system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash) using tools such as ETAP or EasyPower.
- Integrate safety, regulatory compliance, and risk analysis into all aspects of system design.
- Develop electrical distribution, motor control, grounding, lighting, and cable support system designs.
- Perform engineering calculations and manage technical decisions with input from senior leaders.
- Conduct industrial site reviews, field verifications, and client site visits as required.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across offices to support seamless project delivery.
- Prepare technical reports, construction specifications, cost estimates, and design documentation.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to developing team capability and technical excellence.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, solutions-oriented service.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- 5+ years of electrical engineering design experience supporting heavy industrial projects.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in BC; eligibility for other jurisdictions is an asset.
- Working knowledge of CSA, ANSI, IEEE standards and applicable codes.
- Proficiency in power system modelling software and electrical design tools.
- Ability to design distribution systems, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, fire alarm, heat tracing and cathodic protection systems.
- Experience attending industrial sites and complying with safety regulations.
- Beneficial experience across mills, smelters, mines, refineries, ports, pulp and paper, industrial plants or renewable energy systems.
- Knowledge of instrumentation, controls, automation, PLC/DCS/HMI systems and modelling tools is an asset.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Strong writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a project team environment.
- French language skills are an asset.
