Your Opportunity:

Under the direction of the Associate Director, Data Analytics & Reporting, the Institutional Research Analyst performs a variety of analytical tasks using specialized software. Responsibilities include extracting, compiling, and analyzing data for reporting on all aspects of College operations including student enrolment, financial, facility space, survey response data, etc. The Analyst is responsible for using appropriate research methodology, implementation and project management tools to identify business problems, and to research and develop solutions using applicable technologies.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor degree in Math, Computer Science, Business, or Sociology (ie, quantitative or social sciences), which may include subjects in inferential statistics, research methodology, computer programming and database management courses. Two to four years of related experience. An equivalent in experience and education may be considered.

Functions and Duties:

1. Provides information gathering support, including data retrieval, data analysis, and creation of databases, documents, spreadsheets, and/or reports as directed for internal or external clients.
2. Develops, documents and maintains productivity reporting tools.
3. Extracts and reports the Annual student FTE for submission to the Ministry of Advanced Education, including ad-hoc estimated reports for the Executive.
4. Reviews the Central Data Warehouse (CDW) data submission process.
5. Produces course evaluations reports, which may include the development, documentation, and maintenance of evaluation reporting tools.
6. Prepares and validates cohort and data submissions for BC educational system research projects including BC Student Outcomes survey cohort submissions.
7. Acts as Administrator of department survey software. Develops and administers annual Institutional and ad-hoc surveys in consultation with stakeholders.
8. Utilizing a continuous improvement method, reviews, revises and documents all departmental processes.
9. Participates in department, College, or external committees, teams, and task forces as required.
10. Provides advice, training and guidance to the Institutional Research staff as well as other areas working on tasks related to the Institutional Research area, as needed.
11. Responsible for the development and maintenance of the department's web pages.
12. Assists in the recommendation of appropriate hardware and software to support the IR function, including web, survey, and analytical software.
13. Assists with the development and administration of Institutional Research policies and procedures to support the objectives of the department.
14. Ensures sensitive department files are secure at the end of each day. Maintains strict confidence with sensitive and confidential data (e.g. faculty, student, payroll, and financial data).
15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

- Advanced level of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Access
- Advanced level of experience in statistical analysis using software such as SPSS, or R
- Strong ethics standards and familiarity with Provincial privacy legislation
- Excellent research methodology skills including survey development
- Knowledge of data modeling techniques and program evaluation methodologies would be an asset
- Knowledge of Okanagan College programs and systems and/or BC post-secondary education system would be an asset
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS and/or business intelligence (BI) software (Qlik, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) would be an asset

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate:

$59,951 - $68,505
