Job Description

About the Opportunity

Our Victoria office is looking to add an enthusiastic, hardworking Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to our team. Are you keen to benefit from the support of industry professionals and experienced engineers while working on exciting and inspiring projects that make our communities more resilient? The Victoria team generally supports small to medium-sized municipal and Indigenous communities and is looking for someone to contribute to our infrastructure planning practice. While our team members work on a variety of projects, the successful candidate will primarily support infrastructure planning initiatives. These projects take a holistic approach to water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems, considering technical, environmental, financial, and social factors to help communities make informed decisions about their underground infrastructure. Examples of projects you may work on include Utility Master Plans, Liquid Waste Management Plan, Asset Management Plans, bylaw and policy updates, and utility rate reviews, among others.

Along with learning and project experience, are you excited to contribute to:

  • Registering, or intending to register, upon eligibility, as an Engineer-in-Training with EGBC or an equivalent provincial or territorial association.
  • Engaging with our clients to understand their unique challenges, working collaboratively as a team to explore solutions, and developing practical strategies for the planning, renewal, and long-term stewardship of municipal infrastructure.
  • Providing accurate and timely input on reports, plans, studies, proposals, and presentations that present information in a manner easily understood by a wide variety of audiences.
    • Preparing and applying multi-criteria risk frameworks to support the development of Asset Management Plans and/or Master Plans.
    • Conducting reviews of engineering reports and related deliverables prepared by clients, internal teams, and subconsultants. These technical findings and insights will support informed recommendations and decision-making.
    • Developing strong trusting relationships internally to understand our service offerings and the team members you’ll be working with to build commitment to a culture built on trust.
    • Working directly with clients through day-to-day communications, actively contribute to meetings and project deliverables, and help build lasting client relationships.

This position will be supervised by a professional engineer, registered in BC.

About You

Our ideal candidate is a recent graduate from a civil, environmental, or integrated engineering program with up to 3 years of experience, and is registered or intends to register, upon eligibility, as an Engineer-in-Training with EGBC or an equivalent provincial or territorial association. The core skills and attributes that will help you to succeed here include:

  • You enjoy building strong relationships and discovering new project opportunities that foster collaboration and growth.
  • You are proactive, enjoy problem-solving, and are dedicated to delivering meaningful results.
  • You possess a strong attention to detail and the ability to continually deliver high-quality work.
  • You are able to successfully work on multiple projects at a time and thrive in a self-directed work environment.
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills and can communicate thoughtfully and thoroughly with team members and others.
  • You have a basic understanding of water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems.
  • You possess a valid Class 5 Drivers’ Licence.
