POSITION:
Health Care Aide
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to an Associate Director of Care, the Health Care Aide, a crucial role in providing high-quality resident care and ensuring the well-being of the residents at Ridgeview Lodge. Key responsibilities of the position will include:
- Provide Resident Supervision and Assistance:
- Support residents with their activities of daily living including eating, dressing, hygiene and grooming as per residents’ individual plans of care;
- Aid residents with respect to their communication and connections by encouraging them to wear individual sensory aids such as glasses, hearing aides, etc.;
- With additional prescribed training, administer specific medication to residents under the supervision of a registered health professional;
- Ensure residents have constant and easy access to mobility or assistive devices such as canes, walkers, call bells, etc.;
- Provide ongoing cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support; as well as oral and dental care; and
- Encourage residents to participate in programs offered by the Resident Experience Team, whether individual or in groups.

WAGE:
CAD 30.72 per hour, 37.5-hour work week. Conditional wages, as per the collective agreement.

EDUCATION:
Completion of Nursing aide or health care aide college program, or a college nursing or orderly program, or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Registered with the Health Care Aide registry in British Columbia;
- Minimum of one year of related experience in a geriatrics, long-term care or institution providing care and support for residents;
- High proficiency in procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatment and providing bedside care to residents;
- Championing compassionate care and dedicated to meaningful work that supports seniors in living with comfort, dignity, and respect;
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work in response to patient needs;
- You exercise tact and diplomacy in working with seniors, their families and visitors; and
- Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
