This job is 100% traveling across North America.

As a service technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and sometimes even installing our energy & lumber dry kiln equipment within the wood products manufacturing industry. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to and promote company safety standards.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with BID Group.
  • Carry out scheduled & unplanned service visits on wood products manufacturing equipment, biomass energy equipment, pressure vessels and piping, and lumber dry kilns.
  • Perform preventive maintenance following checklists and train clients on our products.
  • Check and fill out the different steps in the inspection report progressively as machine components are assembled.
  • Fine-tune highly integrated scanning systems to meet customers’ specific needs.
  • Extensive travel within North America.
  • Complete timely and thorough service reports, timecards, expense reports, etc.
  • Communicate with vendors, internal contacts, and customers.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • This is an entry-level position; trade certification is not required (opportunity for a millwright apprenticeship is available).
  • Excellent mechanical aptitudes with solid understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems is an asset.
  • Ability to read fabrication & assembly drawings is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Honesty, autonomy, and meticulousness, with superior attention to detail using sound judgement skills.
  • Experience in the sawmill industry or with energy systems is an asset.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills with proficient computer skills: Word, Excel, and e-mail.
  • Ability to travel to mill locations within North America.
  • Confined space knowledge is an asset (training available).
