Job Description

Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Director Site Operations to help bridge corporate strategy with day-to-day execution at a remote mining site. This role is critical in shaping how the site operates today while preparing for a future restart decision.

The successful candidate will bring structure, leadership, and a strong safety culture to site operations. They will ensure that people, processes, and resources are aligned to support safe, efficient, and positive operations while advancing broader business goals.

This role plays a central part in building a high-performing site environment grounded in accountability, collaboration, and long-term thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site-wide safety programs, training, and performance standards
  • Build and reinforce a strong, respectful, and proactive safety culture
  • Align corporate strategy with site-level operational planning and execution
  • Oversee care and maintenance activities across the site
  • Coordinate site operations including environmental and water management
  • Develop and manage staffing plans to support ongoing and future site needs
  • Monitor operational performance and deliver insights to senior leadership
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and business planning processes
  • Identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for operational improvement
  • Coordinate contractors, consultants, and service providers on site
  • Ensure all site activities meet regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements
  • Collaborate with technical, finance, and leadership teams to drive alignment
  • Support exploration, engineering, and pre-construction activities on site
  • Prepare materials for executive leadership and Board reporting
  • Lead, mentor, and guide site and planning team members

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in site operations within construction, mining, or similar environments
  • Strong understanding of remote site or camp-based operations
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and accountability
  • Experience managing teams, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ability to build culture, drive engagement, and lead by example on site
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in rotational and remote northern operations required
  • Experience with budgeting, planning, or operational performance tracking is an asset
  • Exposure to First Nations engagement is highly valued
  • Post-secondary education preferred, or equivalent combination of experience
  • Confident communicator with sound judgment and a collaborative mindset

Remuneration

This senior role within the organization will attract a highly competitive base salary with flexibility based on experience and the scale of previous site operations experience.

Additional compensation includes substantial performance-based bonus potential and equity participation.
