About the Opportunity

Knappett Industries is looking for a full-time Civil Construction Estimator based in Nanaimo, B.C.

In this role, you will prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects, reporting to senior leadership. You will play a key role in supporting pre-construction planning, tendering, and project execution, ensuring the delivery of successful and profitable projects.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates for earthworks, site works, road construction, and underground utilities
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop quantity take-offs and pricing strategies
  • Utilizing estimating software such as MS Excel and HeavyBid to produce estimates and proposals
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities in both public and private sectors
  • Collaborating with Project Managers and Estimators to review tenders and refine estimates
  • Participating in pre-construction planning, bid reviews, and post-award project kick-offs
  • Providing estimating support to project teams during execution as needed
About You

To qualify, you will need familiarity with civil construction and strong proficiency in reading and interpreting plans and specifications. A minimum of 3 years of related work experience will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with knowledge of MS Project
  • Experience using estimating software such as MS Excel and HeavyBid
