About the OpportunityKnappett Industries is looking for a full-time Civil Construction Estimator based in Nanaimo, B.C.
In this role, you will prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects, reporting to senior leadership. You will play a key role in supporting pre-construction planning, tendering, and project execution, ensuring the delivery of successful and profitable projects.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparing detailed cost estimates for earthworks, site works, road construction, and underground utilities
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop quantity take-offs and pricing strategies
- Utilizing estimating software such as MS Excel and HeavyBid to produce estimates and proposals
- Identifying and pursuing opportunities in both public and private sectors
- Collaborating with Project Managers and Estimators to review tenders and refine estimates
- Participating in pre-construction planning, bid reviews, and post-award project kick-offs
- Providing estimating support to project teams during execution as needed
To qualify, you will need familiarity with civil construction and strong proficiency in reading and interpreting plans and specifications. A minimum of 3 years of related work experience will also be essential.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with knowledge of MS Project
- Experience using estimating software such as MS Excel and HeavyBid
